Students and employees can now purchase Microsoft Office for only $19.95! For College employees who use Microsoft Office on their College-owned office computers, this is a “Work at Home” license, which permits College-related use only. This program is administered by an external vendor called JourneyEd. For details and links, see the vendor’s web site:

http://www.snc.edu/go/getoffice

JourneyEd says that after you complete the order on their web site, you will be required to fax or e-mail a copy of your academic verification. They will send you an e-mail message with instructions for submitting your academic verification. Once verification is completed and depending on how you place your order, you will receive either a license code, a link to download the software, or a physical DVD set mailed to you. Delivery of the software download instructions are generally completed same day while shipment of the physical DVD takes 3-5 business days.

If you need a copy of Office that does not qualify for the above program, see our software page.

Moodle Instructors,

As you’re already aware, several servers, including Moodle, had a
problem over the weekend, and Moodle was unavailable for about 24
hours while our IT department worked to fix the problem. While
our IT department resolved the problem, they are concerned that
there may be more serious hardware problems ahead.

To avoid further problems with Moodle, our IT department is
planning to migrate Moodle to a different server on Wed, 7/18,
starting at 5pm. Unfortunately, this means that access to Moodle
must be turned off during the migration. Because IT doesn’t know
how long the migration will take, they’re planning (in a
worst-case scenerio) for the migration to take all night (5pm Wed
evening – 8am Thurs morning). I’ve posted a message on the
Moodle home page, and will of course keep you updated as well.

The IT department will also post updates on their Twitter feed:

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great day!
Jay
