To make this blog relevant for future international students I am going to address a couple of questions about how I ended up at St. Norbert. So, here it goes:
When I was younger I always dreamt of moving to the U.S. When I turned 17, I thought it was time for me to take the step and at least see what I could do. I found an organization back in Denmark which helped Danish students find universities around the world.
Because I played (American) football in Denmark, I was set on going to a school with a football program and team. The Danish organization gave me two schools in the US to pick from. Since St. Norbert was the only university with a football team, I decided to find out more about St. Norbert.
I really liked what I saw on the website. I then contacted the international admission counselor. The counselor put me in contact with the football coach, Coach Purtill, this led to me being a player on the St. Norbert football team. Fall is football season, so I write more on that come August.
On a more personal note, everything here is going really well. We have one week of classes before Easter break. That week I have to take two exams plus have a football team tryout. I am looking forward to a busy week.
I will try to get one more blog written before I go on break!
I was reminded today that I have a blog I should update once in a while so I will do just that. Its spring break right now, which means everyone is on an exotic beach or skiing in Colorado. But not this guy! My financial situation does not allow me to travel anywhere right now so I stayed on campus to work and fix it.
This weekend I went to the men’s hockey game with some of my friends and we had a blast. The Green Knights won the game and advanced to the Frozen Four in New York later this week. After the game I hung out with some friends that hadn’t left for break yet and we had a fun night.
In my first blog I talked a lot about our intramural basketball team and how we were excited to win a lot this year. Well, that didn’t happen. The first team we played were mostly guys that had been on the basketball team at one point so it’s safe to say that they outplayed us pretty badly. The next two games were a bit better from our side but we still didn’t manage to get a win. Our last game of the season we won (the other team didn’t show up). For us, a win is a win and we ended our season 1-3. We sure hope to do better next year.
That’s it for this time people. I’ll update the blog a bit more often.
So I guess this is my first real blog! Today is a great day. Our intramural basketball team starts today. For those of you that do not have an idea about what intramural is I’ll try to explain. It’s an on campus tournament with teams made of students. For some people it’s a tournament where you get to shoot some hoops and have some fun. This is not the case for the team that I am on. We need to get revenge from last year when we didn’t make it far in the play offs. We play to win! We will do everything to win and hopefully we will be successful. So I am looking very forward to tonight.
On another note, school has now been on for almost 3 weeks and I feel like classes are off to a good start. I’m still working to keep my grades up so I can get an internship for the summer. I am working on a couple of things right now, but only time will tell. Aside from school and work much of my time is spent working out and preparing for spring (American) football later in the semester. I will keep you updated about both football and the rest of my life!
