We had an early start this morning – we met our tour guide, Elisabeth, at 7 a.m. and rode the bus to St. Peter’s Basilica. The Right Rev. Joel P. Garner, O.Praem., led a private mass in one of the chapels, along with Fr. Jay Fostner and Fr. Dane Radecki. Due to a very unfortunate shortage of vestments, Fr. Sal Cuccia was unable to participate, and graciously joined the rest of the group in the pews. Following the service, Elisabeth led us in a very thorough tour of the basilica. We then broke for lunch, and returned for tours of the Scavi, the necropolis beneath the basilica where St. Peter is buried. After all groups had completed their tours, we boarded the bus for a visit to the Norbertine Generalate, the international headquarters of the Norbertine Order. We enjoyed drinks and a light snack, along with a tour of the building.
