Hello, my name is Pablo Delclaux and I am a freshman at St. Norbert College. I graduated from the American School of Madrid, Spain, where I lived all my life. I was born in London, England, but I am from Madrid; 100% Spanish. I know a total of three languages (Spanish, French, and English) that I have learned throughout my scholastic experience. I am part of the soccer team here at SNC and play an attacking position. I spend my free time reading, hanging out with my friends, working out, and playing my Playstation 3. Two of my favorite things here at SNC are the way in which all the faculty treat students, especially those who are international, and the academic level of the college. I hope that you enjoy the ride of my freshmen year.

Back to reality…

After spending a week in the Caribbean, I find myself back in Wisconsin where the notion of a hot day in the beach does not exist. The good thing is that there is only one more month of college left and after that we have a full four months summer vacation. My spring break trip was excellent and I finally got to enjoy some sun and heat; a week where I relaxed and forgot completely about college. I was missing it since where I come from where it does not get this cold and we rarely get snow in the city. The first couple of days back in college I was mentally still at the beach, but I had to change in order to do well in class. I was still thinking about the palm trees and the clear blue beach shore during my first class on Tuesday after break until I heard we were having a test on Friday. Then I changed my state of mind and now I am completely focused on my studies. Spring break was great, but unfortunately it is over. I am really looking forward to summer to see my family back in Spain. It has been since January first since I have seen them and I do miss them. After a rested week, it is time to make the final sprint of the year and maintain a high performance in class.

Tough, challenging year

This year has been quite intense for me. I have not had all the free time I would have wanted to enjoy, but this was because of my personal decisions.

Last semester I chose to combine a tough, 4 class schedule and soccer. Playing soccer at SNC was something I really wanted to do and be a part of, but it took away all of my day. I would finish classes at 3 p.m, and by 4 p.m. I would be heading towards the locker rooms to get ready for practice everyday. All our hard work gave its result and we managed to end up as the Midwest Conference Champions of 2007 with a 9-0-0 record. I also finished my classes with a very high GPA and was close to joining the Dean’s List.

This semester soccer does not take all my free time, but I still do not have any free time. I am taking an overload with a total of five classes, one of them being a 400 level Senior Seminar French Class. I have a very busy schedule which takes up almost all my time. Everyday of the week is a tough day, but so far I am doing pretty well. I am not finding it as hard as I expected, but it does require a lot of hard work.

So far this year, all the hard work is giving it results.
